BECKLEY / SIMMONS / KILGORE KINSHIP

Use this data with the usual caveats - it has been assembled from a multitude of other sources, including other people's gedcom files. If you have any questions, contact me and I will provide the best sources I can.
HUGE thanks to my cousins David Boggs, Barbara McLain, and George Nolta. Also big thanks to Peggy Hayse for providing most of the Kilgore photos. Kudos to the compiler of "The Kilgore Book," (unpublished) who researched most of the data for the Kilgores in California, and who did it all before the advent of the WWW!

SAMUEL SIMMONS, born in Maryland date unknown, was the son of Jonathan and Elizabeth Child Simmons. We are not sure just when he left Maryland to come to Kentucky. A large group of his relatives came there about 1790, but we do not know for sure if he came with this group or later. The first official date we have for him is his marriage license 24 Sept. 1811, at Hardin, Breckenridge Co, Kentucky He married Elizabeth Scott, daughter of Thomas and Alice Glover Scott.
Samuel and his wife lived at what is now Bade Co., Kentucky. He was killed in a runaway accident in 1820, leaving his widow and four sons, the youngest of whom was born a few months after his death.
