JOHNATHAN SIMMONS, 2nd son of Samuel and Elizabeth Scott Simmons, married Sarah Fulton in Meade Co. Kentucky Oct. 9, 1834. It seems that Johnathan did not go to Hancock Co., Ill., when his mother and brothers went as he had a son born in Kentucky in 1844, and his next child was born in Ill. In 1848, so must have moved there sometime between these dates, He was a carpenter by trade and the father of five children. We know little about this man until about 1866, when, according to his relatives in Nebraska, he with his mother, left Ill. for Calif. with team & wagon and no one ever heard from them again.
