President R. Forrest Hopson is the founder and owner of Geological Information Services. Mr. Hopson has nearly 20 years of academic and professional experience in geology. He has a Master of Science Degree in Geology and has held adjunct geology and geography instructor positions at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno and Western Nevada Community College, in Carson City, Nevada. He has conducted geological research and has several publications to his credit with one other in progress. In addition, Mr. Hopson has participated in on-line geology discussions, delivered talks at professional geology meetings, posted photographs of prominent western volcanoes on the website, Volcano World , held a geology workshop for staff and volunteers at Joshua Tree National Park , and lead a field trip for the Susanville [California] Parks and Recreation Department. He is currently coauthoring a book on the geology of the Lassen Peak [California] region. He is a member of the Geological Society of America, American Geophysical Union, Geological Society of Nevada, National Association of Geology Teachers, and National Association for Interpretation . |
